Access Statement


Blounts Court Farm, although only two and a half miles from the busy market town of Devizes, is set in peaceful countryside complete with village cricket field in front of the farmhouse. We have three en-suite bedrooms and guest sitting room all on the ground floor. The house is over two hundred years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. Although being on the ground floor there are three steps into the property and one step leading up to the dining room level.


We are located at the top of a single-track, tarmac drive off of the main Coxhill Lane. Our location is peaceful, fairly remote and not ideally suited to those travelling without a car.
The nearest shop is approximately 0.25 miles, village pub 0.25 miles and bus stop 0.25 miles which has a fairly regular bus service (except Sundays when no bus runs).
The nearest railway stations are Westbury, Pewsey and Chippenham (approximately 20 miles away). Taxis are usually available at the stations but we can book one for you in advance if required.
We have two dogs, four ponies and a small flock of chicken and regret that we are therefore unable to accommodate dogs (assistance dogs being the exception).
Menus and printed matter are provided in large print. We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in braille.

Arrival and Car Parking

Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you. To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 4pm. Earlier arrival may, however, be possible by arrangement. Parking is through the pillared gates in front of the guest wing, continue around to the left where you will find plenty of level parking on shingle. We can offer assistance with luggage.

Main Entrance

There are three steps into the farm. The first step 2'' high x 32'' depth x29.5'' width. The second step is 6'' high x 20'' depth x 37.5'' width.The third step is 6.25'' high x 33'' depth x 37.5'' width. Then a 5''into the front doorway. The front door is always locked so please ring the bell on arrival. The width of the front door is 30.5''.

Guest Accommodation - Public Areas

The hallway leads directly to the double and twin rooms and the guest sitting room. Through the sitting room to another hallway leads to the single room and one step up (measuring 4.5'') to the dining room level. All carpeted throughout and centrally heated with temperatures being able to be adjusted in each room to suit individual requirements. We have wi-Fi computer connection.

Guest Bedrooms

Electric fan heaters are available in the bedrooms for extra heating should the need occur. Also electric fans are available for those guests that require the rooms to be cooler. Duvets are standard on the beds with additional blankets located on the top shelves of the walk-in wardrobes should they be required. Duvets and pillows are all feather and down (hypoallergenic alternatives can be requested when booking). Sheets and blankets can be arranged if requested on advance reservations.Tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water, television, torch, hairdryer, towels and complimentary toiletries etc. can be found in the rooms. All three rooms are carpeted throughout with natural stone flooring in the en-suite rooms which consist of shower, wc, basin and shaver point. There are walk-in wardrobes (with internal shelving and full length mirror) in each of the rooms with a dressing/work table(with light over). There are guest information notices in each room.

Double Bedroom

The double bedroom is located to the left on entering the front door on the ground floor. The doorway width is 28'' with the en-suite doorway being 25''.The shower doorway is 22'' with a depth of 37'' and width 28.75''. The bedroom is carpeted with the en-suite flooring in natural stone with underfloor heating. The bed measures 4'6'' width x 6'3'' length x 22''height and is a four poster bed with a roof and can be accessed by both sides. There are bedside lights and wall lights on both sides of the bed together with cabinets. There are two chairs in this room.

Twin Bedroom (two single beds)

The twin bedroom is located also to the left on entering the front door on the ground floor. The doorway entering the room is 28.5'' wide with the en-suite doorway 25''. The shower doorway is 20'' with a depth of33.5'' and width 46.5''. The bedroom is fully carpeted with the en-suite flooring of natural stone with underfloor heating. The beds measure 3' wide x 6'3'' length x 24.5'' height. Access can be made either side of the beds and in the middle. There is a bed side light in the centre on a table with switches either side of the bed for the wall lights. There are three chairs in this room.

Single Bedroom

The single bedroom is accessed through the guests sitting room. The hallway from the sitting room to the single room is 31'' wide with a width of 29.5''at its narrowest by a grandfather clock. The bedroom door is 27.5'' and en-suite door 24.5''. The shower doorway is 20'' with 29'' depth x 46.5'' width. The bedroom is fully carpeted with the en-suite in Jerusalem limestone. The bed is 3' width x 6'5'' length x 22.5'' height which can be accessed from both sides. The measurement between the bed and the cupboard wall at one point is 19.5''. There is one chair in this room.

Sitting Room

The sitting room doorway leading from the front door hall measures 31''.There is a comfortable sofa here and two upright chairs. A low energy light is left on for the duration of the night at all times.

Dining Room

The dining room is reached via the hallway from the sitting room up to a higher level. The step measures 4.5''. The doorway into the dining room is 31.5'' wide and then the opening into the room is 37'' with the dining chair height of 18'' to the seat. Breakfast is taken at the one Victorian dining table overlooking the paddocks to the cricket ground.

Outside Sitting Area

To the right of the front door is a sitting area with various garden chairs and a table under an aged metal arbour together with many planters of varying size.

Additional Information

There is one fire extinguisher in the sitting room and one to the left of the single room in the hallway. There are interconnecting fire alarms in each bedroom and throughout the property. Please advise us if you have a hearing impairment and might not hear this. The building can be evacuated via the front door to the bed and breakfast wing or the front door to the main farmhouse in the hallway between the sitting room and dining room. In an emergency there is also an exit via our kitchen which is the door opposite the dining room and also the utility room which can be found through the door by the step up to the dining room level. Please then proceed to congregate at a safe distance away from the property in the concrete yard. We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us of these before your arrival if at all possible. We are happy to refrigerate any medication. We can also keep any perishables (such as dairy proucts) in our fridge for a limited period. Mobile phone reception at Blounts Court Farm is generally ok outside but limited signal inside. We have wiFi connection.

Terms and Conditions

DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION POLICY A deposit equivalent to the first nights accommodation will be requested to secure the reservation. In the unfortunate event that cancellation occurs less than 28 days from check-in (4p.m.) on date of reservation then full amount will be due for payment.
PAYMENT Preferred method of payment is either cash (sterling) or cheque accompanied by bankers card. We accept British debit cards.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT Requested check-in is between 4-6.30pm (if this proves to be inconvenient please contact us prior to arrival to arrange a more suitable time). Check-out is requested by 10.15am.
BREAKAGES/DAMAGE If in the unfortunate event that damage to the property occurs in or outside Blounts Court Farm then compensation will be sought to the value of replacement/repair from the guest.
BLOUNTS COURT FARM (Caroline and Colin Cary) do not accept any liability to personal property for damage, loss, theft or injury to guests on the premises. Cars parked at owners risk.
